Welcome to you! I'm 50+ myself - and i can recognize your feelings and thoughts. If you are happy about riding the Savage (and i think you are) - you will be even more happy every time you have a ride. I'm quite sure you made the right decision - riding a bike and buying a Savage. Also that everybody had to change their perception of you is a funny thing (in my case only my very old mother had to do this about me - i think that's because she is still nervous about me). Maybe you also have experienced, that a lot of people have a dream of biking. Most of them don't realize it. I thought that's because they are scared (and that certainly sometimes is the case) - but your report made be think, that it also has to do about perception from others. Another time i'll entertain about a danish "law" about this (the "jante-law" from a, in Scandinavia ,famous novel by an author called Aksel Sandemose)
